Shooting Leaves Nine Injured Near England's World Cup Base in US

(MENAFN) Nine people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting near the hotel and training base selected for England's World Cup preparations in Kansas City, Missouri, media reported Sunday.

Officers arrived at approximately 4 am local time (0900 GMT) Saturday following reports of gunfire, discovering a large crowd in the process of dispersing, according to The New York Times' sports outlet. Three injured women were treated at the scene immediately, while six additional adults independently sought hospital care, bringing the total number of wounded to nine.

The incident took place a short distance from the facilities England are expected to occupy during the tournament. The squad, currently based in Florida, was not present at the time of the shooting.

No suspects have been taken into custody and investigations remain ongoing, according to the report.
