Iran Emphasizes National Unity

(MENAFN) A representative for the Iranian parliament’s presidium stated that the country remains “united against the enemy” during the continuing strain with the United States and Israel, as reported on Monday by a state-run news agency.

“We have no differences, we are one nation, and our goal is one. Our commonalities far outweigh the differences that exist,” Abbas Goudarzi declared, as cited by the news agency.

Goudarzi highlighted the significance of the public’s role, explaining that citizens “make the square more vibrant and support the negotiating team and diplomacy.” He emphasized that popular engagement strengthens both the atmosphere and backing for diplomatic efforts.

He added that public participation could also shape the results of ongoing discussions with the United States, suggesting that collective presence plays a part in influencing negotiations.

These statements followed a move by US President Donald Trump, who extended what had originally been a two-week ceasefire with Iran—brokered by Pakistan and initiated on April 8—by an additional period last week.

Trump indicated that he would delay any further steps until Iran’s leadership is able to present a "unified" stance during negotiations.
