Emirates, Etihad Resume Limited Flights Amid Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) Emirates and Etihad Airways announced on Friday the resumption of limited flight operations from their main hubs after suspending services due to escalating regional tensions following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent retaliatory actions against Israel and Gulf countries hosting US assets.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways said it had prepared a restricted flight schedule valid until March 19, covering around 70 destinations, including Frankfurt, London, and Paris. Meanwhile, Dubai-based Emirates indicated flights to 82 destinations will operate until further notice, emphasizing that only passengers with confirmed connecting flights may transit through Dubai.

Both airlines prioritized travelers with existing reservations and advised those without confirmed tickets not to go to the airport. They also stated that flight schedules remain subject to change depending on developments in the security situation.

In parallel, a Lufthansa aircraft chartered by the German government evacuated German citizens from Gulf countries to Frankfurt on Thursday, with Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announcing two additional evacuation flights as part of ongoing efforts.
