EU Unveils Strategy to Strengthen Chemical Industry

According to the Commission, "The Action Plan addresses key challenges, namely high energy costs, unfair global competition, and weak demand, while promoting investment in innovation and sustainability."
These efforts are intended to create a more favorable environment for long-term growth and advancement within the sector.
To tackle sector-specific vulnerabilities, the EU Commission plans to form the "Critical Chemical Alliance" in cooperation with member nations and key industry figures.
This coalition will work to pinpoint vital production facilities that require aid and craft strategic responses to commercial obstacles, such as overreliance on external supply networks.
In addition, the EU Commission is preparing to promptly enact trade protection measures to preserve a level playing field for European chemical producers. I

The Commission emphasized that "The Alliance will align investment priorities, coordinate EU and national projects, including Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs) and support EU critical production sites to boost innovation and regional growth."
